Back on track

With much help from the guys at The Computer Shop (49a Crouch Street, Colchester CO3 3EN; 01206 576043; www.tcs2000.co.uk) – they’ve definitely earned a free advert!) I now have my laptop back, and seem to be back on track.

(And yes, I did back everything up again straight away after getting the machine back… 🙂 )

Cause of problem not a failed hard-disk, thank ChooseYourDeity, but a dying 512Mb SIMM – unusual, ‘cos Kingston memory is usually solidly reliable. Just one o’ they things, I guess.

But I ain’t complainin’ (much): no loss of data, and only one day’s production gone AWOL, which I should be able to recover if I work through the weekend.

Phew…
