Mercury retrograde?

Apologies for the recent communications shutdown: as astrologers would put it, Mercury has definitely been going retrograde in the past couple of weeks…

Starting-point was a miscommunication between my hosting-provider and the domain-registrar about the expiry-date for the TomGraves.eu domain which I’d been using for the weblog. The hosting-provider told me it was 29 May, as listed on WhoIs, but deep in the small-print of their contract with the domain-registrar was a beautifully confusing sub-clause which effectively made it 25 May. I renewed on 27 May – after various battles with the hosting-provider’s barely-functioning online payment system – but the domain-registrar had already disabled it, and demanded a thumping US$150 ‘fine’ to get it back. “Another fine mess you’ve gotten me into”, etc… Bah. 🙁

(Tetradian.com and TetradianBooks.com haven’t been affected by this farrago: email and websites there are working the same as before.)

So: TomGraves.eu will come back online eventually, once the hosting-provider and domain-registrar have finally sorted out who’s doing what and when. In the meantime I’ve registered TomGraves.org, and have shifted both this and the TomGraves personal website over to the new domain. When TomGraves.eu comes back online, it’ll point here again, so it’ll look the same as before.

But in the meantime the search-engines will probably still point to the non-functioning TomGraves.eu domain, so bear with us a little while?

And if you sent any mail to the TomGraves.eu email address after about 22 May, it may have been lost – if so, please re-send to the TomGraves.org domain? (Same name before the ‘@’ sign.)

Many thanks – and again, many apologies. “These things are sent to try us”, etc…
